OSIPP integrates academic and practical knowledge in law, politics, and economics to address the public policy challenges facing Japan and the international community. Our mission is to cultivate global public policy professionals who possess both a keen sense of reality and the capacity for systematic analysis and evaluation.

Flexible analytical capabilities to address the complexities of a diversifying society.

We conduct education and research on various public policy issues arising in both domestic and international society. This work is grounded in the foundations of law, politics, and economics. Our approach transcends traditional academic boundaries to foster the ability to understand real-world social problems from multifaceted perspectives. We bridge theoretical research with practical policy-making by leveraging the latest data analysis methods and social surveys. Through this integration, we cultivate flexible analytical capabilities to address the complexities of a diversifying society.

Promoting interdisciplinary research through collaboration with researchers and policy practitioners worldwide.

We are committed to the common interests of global society, including peace, human rights, the environment, well-being, and security. Through our international academic networks, we drive interdisciplinary research in collaboration with scholars and policy practitioners from around the world. International students make up more than half of our student body, representing a wide diversity of countries. We also emphasize study abroad programs and internships at international organizations. OSIPP graduates are making a significant impact across the globe.

Cultivating professionals who can make substantive contributions to society as public policy experts.

We emphasize experience in actual policy-making environments. Through internships, field research, and policy evaluation exercises, students develop the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to solve real-world challenges. Our students gain professional experience at public institutions, NGOs, and private companies both in Japan and abroad to advance their career development. Through this practical education, we aim to cultivate professionals who can make substantive contributions to society as public policy experts.

OSIPP is an educational and research institution that addresses contemporary public policy challenges from interdisciplinary and international perspectives, grounded in law, political science, and economics. Students from diverse countries and backgrounds come together to develop policy analysis skills and leadership capabilities by integrating theory and practice.

We offer various flexible arrangements to support students who are working while pursuing their studies.

OSIPP provides an environment where students can build on their professional experience and acquire the expertise needed to play leading roles at the forefront of global public policy. At OSIPP, students may earn a Master’s degree, a Ph.D. (International Public Policy), a Ph.D. (Economics), or a Ph.D. (Law).
